Finally, a famous animation director, Hayao Miyazaki,
decided to retire from his work.
This shocking news was announced during the Venice International
Film Festival. Studio Ghibli's speaker announced this sad news on September 1st. He has announced that he would retire before. But this time, he says he really means it.
“I wanted to convey
the message to children that this life is worth living. This message has not
changed.” He said at the conference on 6th. Hayao Miyazaki started his work in 1979.
He established Studio Ghibli in 1985. Since then, he directed many popular and
famous films. ‘Spirited Away’ in Japanese, Sen to Chihiro no kamikakusi, topped Titanic's sales at the Japanese
box office and still draw record
box-office taking. Though he retires from his animation film work, he will take part in the exhibition in Ghibli museum.
He did tell this message to us. I have watched Ghibli's animation since I was little. Probably I have been living with Ghibli's movie. I get a lot
of energy and impression everytime I watch Ghibli’s film. I feel sorry to hear that ‘The
Wind Rises’ is the last time to see his work. However, I am looking forward to
watching new Ghibli’s work. We can't take off our eyes from Ghibli!
Ghibli's museum in Mitaka.
You should go there once!

ReplyDeleteso it's really sad to hear his retirement.
In their movie, I love how they put irony message or bring up problems in real society.
so, this is sort of animation, but it's not only for kids, it's almost for adults.
I wonder how Ghibli movies looks like after he leaves.

I LOVE his works. So I feel really sad to hear that he retires.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but whenever I saw his films I feel myself cleaned or washed in some way.
I saw Kaze Tachinu! It seemes to me that he was writing about an airplane but actually about his life in some way. And it was impressive because it also showed me the existence of "Enn",like destiny.
And anyway, you know my birthday and major is same as his (it is accidentally but...)What a surprise!

My first Gibuli movie was Mononoke-hime. It was little bit shocking film for me, 5 years old. Then after, I saw Totoro, and got so in to it because it was cute story.
ReplyDeleteI don't know when I stopped watching Gibuli movies. I think I should start watching some soon.

Have you been to Ghibli museum? What is the attraction for you of Miyazaki's movies? What is your favourite Miyazaki movie and why? It is really amazing how his films have become so popular and well known around the world. I think he had his last film shown at the Toronto International Film Festival this year - could that be true?
