I found an interesting news that relates to Tokyo Olympic. There might be another Baby-Boom by 2020.
There are two Baby-Booms in Japanese history: First on 1947-1949, Second on 1971-1974.
First Baby-Boom occurred because of World War 2. World War 2 ended on 1945, and Japanese armies who survived through came back to home. It is biologically natural to want children after surviving through war, or fights with the chance of death. So armies who were married or had somebody that were going to be a future fiance made babies. Second Baby-Boom happened because of First Baby-Boom. Since it is about 20 years after first one, babies from it grew up and became adults. Lots of adults got married and made lots of babies.

I think having a longer life span is a good thing, and I know this is because of better technologies. But decreasing birth rate, I think it's because how Japan saw importance on "individual freedom" after WW2. I think current Japanese's life behavior became "It's your life; I'm not going to say anything, but don't make trouble". People can't say anything to people who don't get married, because it is individuals's freedom. So I really think it is good if this "Third Baby-Boom" happens.
Do you think you will be married by 2020? If so, do you want to have children by then?
Wow! this is very interesting article!
ReplyDeleteI didn’t know that baby-boom had relationship with the Olympics!
In 2020, I’ll be 25. Guess it’s too early to marry for me! haha

I don't know I will have my child or marry someone in 2020...but it's not far away from this year.
ReplyDeleteThe news is so so so interesting! I just learn many things. Some people probably hope baby-boom happens again like 30years ago, but others maybe not. Scientists who research baby-boom or similar investigation will get more and more excited about Japan's birth rate and population.

Oh my god!I I presume that it is almost exact time for my age people to get babies!
ReplyDeleteIt is true that more and more people think their freedom is very important. I was kind of surprised to hear that my friend wants to get married but she is not sure about babies.
There are so many ways of thinking and I think it is nice for people to express it. However, it might be better for us to marry a kind of person who thinks similar in many ways.
It was so interesting to hear!Thank you!

OHHHH, that is very interesting!
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting relationship between baby-boom and Olympics. Japan are facing of decking birthrate and maybe it going to solve this crucial problems! I wish I can marry at that time and get children and contribute to Japanese society, but nobody knows what's going to happen.

ReplyDeleteYour article is interesting. People have a strange tendency that they have baby when whole Japan seems happy! If this happens, Japan will be more active country for having more children. However, if this really happens, we will face other problems. For example, child on the waiting list for admission to a kindergarden, lack of childcare workers and so on.

What an interesting theory - do you agree with it? I think the biggest problem with it is that people will have to get married, and the current feeling among young Japanese is that they are not interested in marriage, or so I thought. Besides, I don't think a sports event is a good enough reason to have a baby.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Olympics are always plural when they are in noun form.
