6th grade class "mini" reunion (Kenichiro Ikari)

It is always nice to see old friends. This summer, since most of my Japanese School's (which I went when I was used to live in America) 6th grade class members were living at Tokyo, and our Teacher was having a vacation at Tokyo, we planned to have a class reunion. But it was a "mini" reunion, because there were only half of the class due to the scheduling issue.

Lots of my classmates came back to Japan after graduating elementary school (6th grade, like in Japan), so it had been about 6 years at the longest. It was funny how some people changed. I thought 6 years were not that long of time, but when I saw them changed, I thought I'm getting old. I also thought I didn't change since then, but everybody said that I did.

Who actually didn't change was our Teacher. She is about 60 years old, and she is still teaching in same school. She was married to American man, but he passed out after few years after we graduated her class. I used to talk about our pet dogs and books back then, and we did talk about it that day too. I felt something nostalgic that time.

We went to Odaiba, where there is a festival called "Odaiba Boukenou" around Fuji television building. We went up the building, and saw lots of things. It was near ocean, so the view from the building was great! Our teacher got excited because it was about 10 years since last time she came to Japan, and it was her first time going up the Fuji television building. After that, we went to see Tokyo Sky Tree. It was really huge, but we didn't have chance to go up of it.

Me and My teacher
What makes you feel like "I want to go back to elementary school (or middle/high school)"? Mine was this day. I really felt that "we came back together".

  1. Reunions are always exciting! I love them too! My elementary school friends are all back in London where I used to live, so I hardly get to see them. It always makes me very upset that I don't get to see them whenever I want.
Odaiba sounds fun too! Seems like you had a great day! (Mai.T)

  3. That's really nice and sweet! i moved a lot due to my fathers job. so sadly, i lost contacts with many of my old firends... i wish i could meet them again, but it's really difficult, for me, i could spend almost entire school year in my high school, although i went to America and couldn't have a lot of time with classmates, they are my best frieds. and I'm planning to go back to America this winter and have mini reunion like you did. i'm so excited about it!

  4. How nice!It seems that you had a great reunion! When I heard of your story, it reaminded me of many old wonderful friends. I have not meet them for such a long time. Eventhough some of them are still in America I am not sure if they still exist in where they used to live. I have friends who I really want to meet. And I also miss my teacher...You are so lucky to meet a lot of your friends and a teacher!

  5. You seem to have great time! Odaiba and Skytree!!What a fun!
This summer, when I meet with friends in high school days and entered to different university, I felt strange. We used to be together everyday, but the time has passed. I come to think that I should cherish time when I'm with friends because the time never lasts forever. But I also thought meeting old friends and teacher is great!

  9. To answer your question - nothing! I was the kind of kid who was bored at elementary and junior high school. I wanted to go straight to high school, so when I got there I was really really happy. Besides, when I was an elementary school student, my summer vacations were a total disaster - one year I had whooping cough (a contagious disease), and 4 summers I had operations on my eyes for cataracts.
Glad for you that you enjoyed your reunion and especially that you saw your teacher.
