a good film I have seen (Yuka Sakurai)
Hello. How are you doing? It is being very hot these days, but I still have emotion to watch films. In summer, I saw a lot of DVDs. Talking of a foreign film, I saw "Les Miserable", which it has many things to think about. It showed me how difficult it is to clarify good to bad. And I also saw Japanese movies such as "funewoamu" and "platinum data" which were both created from books. I liked these movies also.
However, what I really want to introduce is a very old movie created by Akira Kurosawa "ikiru". I borrowed this DVD because of my sister's recommendation. This is a story of a man, working as a bureaucracy for 30 years, find himself to be a stomach cancer. Story starts from his recognizing that illness. When he faced this problem, he first tried to play since he had been working too seriously, almost never played at night. However, he was not fulfilled from it. Then he decided what he will going to do before he dies. When people are faced with one's death, what will going to happen? What will you going to do if it occurred to you? His decision afterwards impressed me a lot. He did not cried until death. He quit recalling about the past thinking he had done nothing. The way he acted was great but his inner spirit was great enough to support it. The day he found out that he got a cancer was not a start of a strait way to his death but was a starting of struggling vividly for the rest of his life. Can people really react like that?
If it were me, I probably could not live like him. I will only think about my life, myself, and what is only related to me, yet he was different. He even thought of what he could do for people before he died, even though no one was understanding him nor praised him.
Recently, I feel that what we do is important but not much. What is more important is why we do that, the emotion coming from your heart. The appearance or how you say is important may be, but not that important. Things without sincerity is nearly unnecessary, and we really have eyes to figure out weather it is true or not.
We must think more. We should not do things because we are required to do. By seeing this movie, I figure out that we must find out the meaning of our life by ourselves. Nobody can tell you how your life should be. Even though we are healthy now, we cannot know the future. Furthermore, sooner or later, everyone dies. But I am not saying it in pity, but we must think about what our life is. What we want to do and what is really important for you. No one want to die with regret in their heart. We are the captain of our ship and we must take a steer of it. Fortunately, everyday is a chance. We have a possibility to change ourselves.

I hardly watch Japanese movies so your recommendation was interesting to read! "Thinking" is an act that anyone can do, but nobody can think the "same" with somebody else. I think that the thoughts of individuals are actually what really shows what sort of person they are. Great to know new genres of good movies I don't usually watch! (Mai.T)
ReplyDeleteYour comment about the movie is touching my heart. I think this movie is so deep and getting much attention from lots of people who watch the film. It's the most difficult things for us to understand what our lives are. Every goals of our lives are different, but we just pursue some kinds of same things. I want to be a human having originality that anyone does not have.(Shinya Uchida)
ReplyDeletei normally won't choose this kind of movie, but your recomendation made me really interested into this movie. I've wanted to watch some Akira Kurosawa's work, so this movie will be great introduction to it!
ReplyDeleteLife is very uncertain and huge theme to illustrate in the movie but it's really important to think about it.
i want to find what life is through this movie!
I'll watch this movie for sure!

This is interesting! When I heard this kind of story, it always reminds me of the Steve Jobs's words. He said, "I always stand in front of the mirror in the morning and ask to myself about if I die today, what should I do today." It's really hard to think about future and sometimes it is painful. So, I try to not to think about future, but I always try to think about what should I do today. It's very easy to make daily objectives. I know how hard it is to make a life of goal. I don't want to think about how ma life is going to end. Also, you should watch the movie, "The Bucket List." This movie is also great! The story is kind of same as yours.

Though I know Akira Kurosawa's name very well, I have never watched his film. I was impressed by your article! We usually don't think about 'Life' or feel that 'we are living' We start to think these things when we face death. Reading the article, I thought I must think more about my life and how I should behave. Thank you for the recommendation. I'll watch it as soon as possible!

If I was in his position, I want to say thank you to everybody whoever I've met before. I'm pretty sure that my life is at least 90% made of help from people around me.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm pretty sure that I would go in panic if I hear that my life will end soon. I still have lots of thing that I want to do in my life. I believe that this 19 years are just the beginning of my life.

guess everyone has different ways of spending their last remaining days alive if they know they will die soon. Do you know the movie "10 things to do before you die?" Or "The bucket list"? The first film is about a young woman who learns she has terminal cancer. The second film is about two old men who make up their minds to live the remaining time alive experiencing lots of fun, after they met when they were both in hospital. I think that it is important to live every day as if it were your last. Then you can always be happy. However, I think this is not for young people to worry about - please expect that you will live for a good long while!

oh, it looks like some others recommend The Bucket List. By all means, watch it!
